Brent Jones signs his national letter of intent.

Caton announces signing of Brent Jones

By Doug Fitzgerald

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men’s basketball coach Russ Caton announced Wednesday that 6-foot-5 swingman Brent Jones had signed a national letter of intent to play for the Mountain Lions.

Jones will be transferring to UCCS from Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., and will be a junior for the 2009-10 season. He led the Titans in scoring this past season, averaging 16.4 points per game wile shooting 47 percent from the field and 61 percent from the foul line. He also averaged 6.8 rebounds per game.

“Brent is going to represent UCCS very well,” said Caton. “He is bringing the whole package; a great kid, great student, and a great basketball player.

“Defensively he can play multiple positions and offensively he has a great inside and outside game which should create some tough matchup problems for opponents.”
